It was an honour this year to get a shortlisting in the highly competitive Huawei Creatives Photography competition. There were thousands of entrants but I managed to get a shortlisting in the “Judges Choice” of the Street Photography category, getting down to the final 5, which I was very proud of since it is not my usual area of focus.

My shot was taken at Grand Canal Square in Dublin against the surreal backdrop of the Bord Gais Theatre, with the man and child giving a sense of scale to the architecture.

The spring low lighting gave a nice contrast, and the bold lines in the architecture added to the surreal feeling of the overall photo.
I will certainly be giving it another go next year, these things are great for sharpening your skills and learning new ones.
